Gifts are different than buying for ourselves in that their purpose is to communicate a special message to someone. Are you ever left wandering aimlessly though stores or websites without finding something that truly conveys your “message” or the “why” behind the gift? Eventually, you get frustrated and settle for random stuff you didn't like in the first place or a gift card, never really feeling satisfied with your choice.
I'm here to tell you that you're not alone and the struggle is REAL. My hope in creating this business is to help you ditch the gifting stress. I want your recipient to slow down and take a moment to feel special, whether it is for a loved one, a welcome gift for guests at a wedding or retreat, or yourself. YES, even if it’s for you. My goal is to make someone feel like it's their birthday, no matter what day it is!
So how do you convey your “why”?
I think we can all agree on one thing, no matter the person or occasion, everyone wants to feel special. Packaging is the FIRST impression! I dedicate the time and materials to ensure the gifts are as beautiful on the outside as they are on the inside. I’m confident the wrapping alone will exude class, and instantly be appreciated as that extra step to being special. It might be a little heart-breaking to cut the ribbon because they are "too pretty to open", but you’ll be rewarded with the beautiful pieces on the inside. As the wonderful scents start to emanate from the unwrapped soaps, the first thing you’ll want to do is pick them up and smell each one. You will be thought of each time the soaps are used.
Why soap?
First, because EVERYONE uses it. When choosing the right gift, you have to factor in that everyone has different interests and tastes. I have thought for a very long time about the one gift that covers friends and family, bridal shower, wedding, a new neighbor, an old neighbor, a nurse, an employee, a significant other, and everyone else in our circle of life. Handmade soap has been my go-to for it all. People just seem happy to receive it.
Secondly, I think we all struggle with a little clutter in our home. I often hear from friends that receiving things can sometimes feel like a burden. Where do you store those multiple cheese shredders, lol ?!? There's guilt in keeping it, guilt donating it, and a self-imposed obligation to decorate your home with something that’s not quite your style. Honestly, people who have everything don't need more "stuff", but it's still nice to receive beautifully packaged, handmade products that can be enjoyed. I like soap, candles and consumables because they are small, and once you use it, it’s gone. No guilt. No strings attached.
The lesson here is this: If your goal is to make a lasting impression or to impress your guests or clients, gifts can totally miss the mark if the packaging is rushed, just thrown in a bag or it's a gift card that took 2 minutes to pick out.
